A watercolour inspired by the Japanese prints Vincent van Gogh collected. He used these prints as inspiration for his paintings. The Japanese prints were printed with wood blocks. For each print, several wood colour blocks were made by the wood block cutter . Each block was then coated with a different colour of pigment and by printing the blocks on the paper to be printed one after the other exactly as they were drawn, the print was created. I have used watercolour paint here, a very different technique and medium than was used by the printers in Japan and by Vincent van Gogh . Van Gogh painted with oil paint. It is very nice to see what you can do with watercolour paint or also with another medium to give your own impression.
