About ‘Jan van Goyen. View of Arnhem’
Jan van Goyen (1596 - 1656) was a Dutch landscape painter of the Golden Age. Van Goyen bequeathed many paintings of rivers, lakes, canals, dirt roads, dunes or beaches near The Hague, Rotterdam, Delft, Dordrecht, Leiden, Gouda, Rhenen, Arnhem, Nijmegen, Emmerik and Kleve. He regularly painted winter landscapes, seascapes and townscapes, but never a portrait, history piece or still life.
