About the artwork

Jan Verkade's 1891 painting "Landscape" shows an abstract landscape with a combination of natural and architectural elements. The painting is composed of different planes and colours, with the dominant colours being green, yellow and orange.

In the foreground, three long, slender trees can be seen reaching upwards. Behind the trees, a yellow building with a dark blue roof is visible. Around the building, orange and red trees or bushes can be seen.

The style of the painting is typical of the symbolist movement, which emphasises the use of colour and form to convey an emotional or spiritual experience. The painting is interesting because of the way Verkade combines and abstracts nature and architecture, evoking a sense of mystery and serenity.

Jan Verkade (Zaandam, 18 September 1868 - Beuron, 19 July 1946) was a Dutch painter who painted in Paris at the turn of the century. He was part of Les Nabis. His father was Ericus Gerhardus Verkade was founder of the well-known Verkade biscuit and cookies factory.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
