Jerome of Stridon, full Latin name Eusebius Sophronius Jerome (Stridon, c. 347 - Bethlehem, Sept. 30, 420) was a writer, translator and hermit in early Christianity. He is also often considered a church teacher, church father and saint in Christianity. The Roman Catholic Church counts him among the four great church fathers of the West.
Between 390 and 405, he made a translation of the Bible into colloquial Latin (sermo humilis): the Vulgate. At the Council of Trent (1545-1563), more than 1,100 years later, the Catholic Church declared this translation to be the only authoritative text.
Jacopo del Sellaio (1441/2-1493), was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance, active in his native Florence. His real name was Jacopo di Arcangelo. He worked in an eclectic style based on that of Botticelli, Filippino Lippi and Domenico Ghirlandaio. The nickname Sellaio was taken from his father's profession, saddler.
