It remains very impressive to see and hear: a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress of the United States Air Force (USAF).
I took this photo at the end of 2014 during one of my spotter trips in the United States. During that trip I visited Barksdale Airforce Base in Louisiana. Home base of this B-52.
The B-52 Stratofortress is an American long-range heavy bomber (capable of dropping nuclear and conventional bombs) built by Boeing.
For many decades, the B-52 Stratofortress is the backbone of the U.S. Air Force and therefore their oldest operational aircraft. The B-52 is able to drop a large arsenal of different types of bombs. The aircraft is continuously modernized and is expected to remain in service until 2050.
