101 Squadron, the First Fighter Squadron, was Israel's first fighter squadron. The unit was established on 20 May 1948, six days after Israel declared its independence. 101 Squadron started with the Avia S-199, followed by the Supermarine Spitfire and the North American P-51 Mustang. The squadron began the jet age with the Dassault Mystere IV, which was succeeded by the Dassault Mirage IIICJ, IAI Nesher and IAI Kfir before the Lockheed Martin F-16C made its appearance.
This picture was taken on 20 August 2020 during the Blue Wings 2020 exercise held at Fliegerhorst Nörvenich. It was the first time the Israeli Air Force came to practice in Germany.
