During our vacation in Ireland where we toured the south and west coasts, we visited the cliffs of Mizen Head. They are less popular than Sheep's Head, but no less beautiful. For tourists, who don't want to walk on the cliffs, Mizen Head is a full alternative.
Dolphins swim around this rock point and the view is breathtaking. The light here is very beautiful, especially when the sun is shielded by clouds. The colors of the rocks are surprising, as the light falls on one point completely differently than the next.
If you are afraid of heights, it is wise to keep some distance from the edges of the cliffs. Everything is well cordoned off to protect daredevils from their antics.
The trip to the extreme point is a tough one, but very rewarding. On the way to the point are several beautiful vistas and "views" in deep cliffs. The guard house contains the old tools that were used, such as radio equipment and an emergency bell.
