The Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal is a canal in the Netherlands, between Amsterdam and Tiel (from the IJ to the Waal). It connects the Amsterdam harbour with the Ruhr area (Germany) and is the busiest canal of the world. About 100.000 ships sail the canal every year. The canal is 72 kilometres long, 100 to 120 metres wide and 6 to 9 metres deep.
