"In the spotlight: Lantern with beautiful vein structure" is a macro photo of a lantern of the lantern plant (Physalis). This little lantern is already largely decayed. As a result, almost only the vein structure of the lantern remains, together with the orange berry, although it is already shrivelling up (which fits nicely with the vein structure).
This lantern stands with "its nose" is the light. This creates a nice shadow of the lantern on the ground. The lantern is on a wooden base, where you can see the annual rings of the wood running around.
When taking the photo, I chose a moderate depth of field. The focus is on the vein structure in front of the orange berry. Because of this depth of field, the sharpness gradually decreases as you look further back. This gives a sense of depth to the work. It also gives a more dreamy feel to the picture, because not everything is in focus. If you zoom in on the work, you can see this! Lanterns are one of my favourite subjects to photograph! If you go to my shop, you will find an album with all kinds of different pictures of lanterns.
This picture can hang beautifully in the waiting room, study, bedroom or just above the dresser in the living room!
