Living surrounded by flora and fauna - very close to nature - who wouldn't want that? Since 2013, I've been lucky enough to live in the countryside and work in a large studio with large windows that offer plenty of views of the partly unspoilt natural surroundings. But I am also observed - by the numerous birds, deer, foxes, squirrels and raccoons around me.
Capturing the moment, reproducing the silence and mood in my own artistic way: that fascinates me. Living with nature and the changing seasons is good for us humans. It makes us pause again and again, take a look and find joy in the little things in everyday life. This is a recurring theme in my artistic work. Over the years, I have developed new techniques to capture the lightness, fragrance and delicacy of these quiet and special impressions of nature. I paint with watercolour and oil on canvas, among other things, whereby I sometimes grind my watercolours myself in order to achieve a high pigment density and colour intensity. The play of pigments on the specially primed canvas results in a fine vibrancy and sensual surface structure, which is also expressed in the prints.
