Prehistoric looking old beech trunk with its roots exposed in a woodland on the Veluwe
It almost took my breath away, the first time I saw these trees, they look like relics from a bygone era, majestic in size and very impressive. It reminds me of how our lives are so short compared to the lifespan of these giants. I was really taken by this tree with its eye in the sky, but as soon as I wanted to make an image, it became clear my camera dit not have a drop of battery power left. I brought my other camera with just one fixed lens with me as well. I pulled that one out of the bag, made three photographs and it too had run out of battery power. It was one of those days that I think something wants me to just enjoy the scenery and not make images, I did however make this image and I love how ancient this tree looks. The colours of its trunk muted and old looking, but in a way, he was the main character in this forest, even though he was no longer alive. His presence was immense.
