About ‘Illumination by the Lotus’ by Emil Husstege

In this beautiful digital painting, we see a serene Buddha, holding a delicate lotus flower in his hand. The lotus, with its roots in the mud but its flower reaching for the light, symbolises purity and spiritual enlightenment - a perfect companion for the Buddha. Subtle details, such as the water droplets and delicate foliage, add an extra dimension of realism and depth.

Inspiration for this artwork came from the peace and tranquillity that Buddhism exudes, as well as everyone's personal journey to enlightenment. The soft pastel tones, combined with the soothing presence of Buddha, evoke a sense of peace and introspection. For me, this artwork is a reminder to strive for balance and inner peace, even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty.

The painting was created through a combination of digital techniques, resulting in a fusion of traditional art and modern technology. The choice of the digital medium allowed me to capture the fine details and textures of the Buddha and the lotus with precision.
