About ‘Iguana on the Rocks of Curaçao’ by Anouk

During our trip to Curaçao, I came across this iguana sitting among the rocks. He looked completely relaxed, as if the people around him did not bother him at all. For me, that was obviously a good enough reason to grab my camera.

What I really like about this photograph is how naturally the iguana fits into his surroundings. His green and blue tones stand out against the warm, pale rocks, while at the same time he looks completely at home there. When you look a little closer, you start to notice just how many different colors, textures and details there are in his skin.

I always enjoy photographing animals while travelling, especially when I simply come across them in their natural surroundings. You never really know what they are going to do next, which makes every encounter a little different.

Luckily, this iguana was quite happy to sit still for a while. It gave me enough time to photograph him together with the rocky landscape around him. For me, this image captures not only the animal itself, but also a small piece of Curaçao.
