On the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, north of Ullapool and around Lochinver are hills with an elevation of about 800 meters. Because they are fairly solitary in the landscape, you can see them in many places. This photo shows four of them: Canisp, Suilven, Cul Beag, and Cul Mor. Each, of course, has its own profile.
The photo was taken between Lochtinver and Achmelvich, known by its stand.
The photo gives a nice overview of the landscape in the region called Assynt.
The landscape is part of the North Coast 500 miles round trip through the north of Scotland
Landscapes and townscapes are my favourite subjects. I search for beauty in the image; that can come from any of the compositional elements such as lines, shapes, rhythms, light/dark, colour combinations. For me a photograph is successful, when I can hang it on the wall.. Read more…
