About ‘Iceland | Landmannlaugur’ by Marjolijn Maljaars

Iceland's highlands are beautiful and can only be visited a few months of the year. The roads there are the so-called F-roads. Unpaved and quite bumpy. Often these roads are only open in July and August.

Summer 2024, this photo was taken. The road to Landmannlaugur was bumpy but passable with a 4 x 4. On some F roads, you also have to cross a river. You are not allowed to drive on these roads with an ordinary car.

The walks you can do at Landmannlaugur are beautiful. The views and the colours of the mountains, it is all equally beautiful there. Landmannlaugur is famous for its colourful rhyolite mountains, lave fields and geothermal heat springs. The rhyolite mountains are made up of quartz and silicon and together with various minerals they create the special colours in nature.

With this photo of Iceland, you can bring a piece of Iceland into your home.

Summer 2025, I hope to go to Iceland again.
