The Icarus blue is a very common stand butterfly that flies in several generations between May and October. It belongs to the Lycaenidae family. You can encounter them during warm and sunny periods wherever grasses with clovers bloom, the host plant for the caterpillars.
I found this particular butterfly on a cool September morning along a roadside next to a crash barrier of the A58 motorway. Despite the roar of cars, this butterfly was still sitting very still under the dewdrops, waiting for the sun to warm the creature.
I used a macro lens at a focal length of 90mm to get as close as possible, but still get a detailed and full-frame photo.
