IJssel river landscape during sunset seen from above by Sjoerd van der Wal Photography

The river IJssel near Zwolle on the border of Overijssel and Gelderland in The Netherlands during a beautiful summer sunset with clouds in the sky. Aerial view from above.

The IJssel winds gracefully through the frame in sinuous, luminous curves, its surface transformed into liquid gold and silver by the blazing sunset burning low on the western horizon. The sun itself dominates the upper left — an intense, radiant orb sending dramatic lens flares across the scene and bathing the lush green floodplain meadows in warm, honeyed light.
In magnificent contrast, a towering bank of deep blue and purple storm clouds rolls dramatically across the right side of the frame, creating a breathtaking chiaroscuro of warm golden light against cool atmospheric darkness.
A steel railway bridge spans the river in the middle distance, while wind turbines punctuate the flat horizon. Green floodplain islands and grazed riverbanks complete this quintessentially Dutch panorama.
