Hverir is an area with hot springs in the north of Iceland. Hverir in Icelandic means hot springs. It lies just east of Lake Mývatn about 6 kilometers south of the Krafla area near the mountain pass Námaskarð. The pastel-colored area is one of the largest solfatars fields in Iceland. It is dotted with steam plumes, solfatars, fumaroles and boiling mud pots of various sizes. A climb to the sulphur-soaked peak of Mount Námafjall (432 metres) provides a panoramic view.
