The Hungarian Parliament in Budapest is one of the largest and most impressive parliament buildings in the world. Located directly on the banks of the Danube, it is characterised by its neo-Gothic architecture and imposing façade. The building was completed in 1904 and is one of the largest parliament buildings in Europe with 691 rooms. Particularly impressive are the dome and the magnificent interior, which is adorned with golden decorations and ornate frescoes.
The Parliament not only houses the Hungarian Parliament, but also the Hungarian crown jewel, St Stephen's Crown. From the opposite bank of the Danube you have a spectacular view of the building, especially at night when it is illuminated and reflected in the river.
Visiting the Parliament is one of the most popular tourist activities in Budapest and offers a fascinating insight into the country's history and politics.
