A beautiful corner in the Teylers museum with several objects together. The building is more than two hundred years old, which gives a wonderful atmosphere to the collection and to the photo. The light fell beautifully on the fossil skull, which made me feel like I was in a museum.
Besides the colour version, I also chose to make this photo black and white, this gives even more contrast to the photo.
The fossil room at Teylers Museum in Haarlem is special because of its historical and scientific significance, with an authentic 19th-century atmosphere and a rich collection of fossils showing the evolution of life on Earth. The hall offers a unique educational experience by exhibiting rare and valuable fossils, making it an important centre for palaeontological research. A standout piece in the collection is the replica skull of Arsinoitherium, a fascinating extinct mammal with distinctive cone-shaped horns. This fossil offers insight into biodiversity from the Late Eocene to Early Oligocene and illustrates the evolutionary adaptations of the time. The story of the discovery of the Arsinoitherium in the Fayoum region of Egypt and the scientific studies surrounding it enhance the educational value of the exhibition. Together, the fossil room and the Arsinoitherium fossil give visitors a deep insight into the history of life on Earth.
