The Voorhaven is the old harbour in Rotterdam-Delfshaven. The harbour was dug in 1389 as part of the construction of the Delfshavense Schie between Overschie and the Nieuwe Maas and served as an outport for the city of Delft.
In the Netherlands the water supply system is based on the principle of a system that is able to cope with the demand for water. After the opening of the Ruigeplaats lock in 1875 the Voorhaven was tidal free.
The direct connection between the Voorhaven and the Nieuwe Maas was closed off in 1968 by the Westzeedijk. The connection to the Nieuwe Maas has since run via the Achterhaven, the Coolhaven and the Parksluizen.
Started with photography almost 10 years ago now. First the more ordinary pictures where by the way nothing is wrong with it. After a while I thought I could get more out of that camera? If I look at my work then it worked out well.
