It is late November, a chilly autumn day. In Hijkerveld, property of Het Drentse Landschap, it is very noticeable. It is very quiet. The vast fields are open and deserted. I want to capture the sunset. But when I look back I see a beautiful pink glow appearing in the eastern sky. I look for a place in the moor where I can capture the pink both in the sky and in the water. A light mist begins to rise above the water and even the heather gets a pink tint from the sky. Soon perhaps geese or wild swans will land here. They know what is beautiful. With my 17-40 mm lens I take the picture from a tripod at 17 mm, at an ISO of 100 and f/11 with a shutter speed of 10 seconds. The slow shutter speed allows the sensor to pick up as much color information as possible from the surroundings.
