The Scottish highlander is a mostly reddish-brown breed originally from Scotland. They have long hair and long horns. Thanks to their thick fur, this cattle breed is suitable for use as a large grazer all year round. The animals are therefore frequently seen in the Netherlands in nature and recreation areas. They require little care and are rarely aggressive, but restrained behavior is recommended in the event of an unexpected confrontation. If the animals are kept at a good distance, the animals will generally not be disturbed by human presence. Highlanders also feed on plants that many other types of cattle ignore.
