Flooded Noordwaard polder in the Dutch De Biesbosch nature reserve near the village of Werkendam, municipality of Altena, province of North Brabant. A few years ago, Noordwaard was 'unpoldered' to serve as a buffer in the event of a high water level in the nearby Nieuwe Merwede as part of the Room for the River project. On a small 'island' there are trees that contrast against the cloudy sky. The photo was taken in January 2018.
