Two building blocks are very close together. It looks like the high-rise urban area like Manhattan. But it is a Dutch town.
The alley is no more than 3 metres wide. This state is a neighbourhood formerly built according to the ideas of Het Nieuwe Bouwen. That is, with lots of air, light and space.
This is a huge shift in thinking about urban planning in residential areas. It is a big compaction that is, more houses on a surface.
The building block on the left has windows on the side. The block on the right was put next to it later so that the residents on the left face blind facades (because there are no windows there) and the incidence of light is greatly disadvantaged.
On the right is a 12-storey residential tower.
The alley is not accessible. It opens onto a courtyard where we see one tree. The blocks are built on a large parking basement. So if there is a garden in the courtyard, it is on a concrete floor.
I executed the photo in black and white because some austerity does suit di subject.
