About ‘Heusden Harbour Fortress’ by Hans Janssen

The charming harbour of Heusden Vesting lies on the River Maas and forms a beautiful part of the historic fortified town. Colourful boats and historic vessels line the quays, whilst the old facades and fortifications create a distinctive atmosphere. From the harbour, you have a lovely view of the water and the surrounding area. It’s a lovely spot to take a short stroll, enjoy the view or settle down on a cosy terrace. The harbour beautifully illustrates how Heusden’s rich past and life on the River Meuse are intertwined. The threatening clouds, seen from the quay, lend the corn mill an extra sense of poignancy. The end of the hot summer of 2026 is drawing near.
