The herring gull sat at the highest point on the rock. With its somewhat mean eye, it scanned the surroundings. Each time the size (they have a wingspan of 1.5 meters) of these waterfowl surprises me.
The beautiful bright white plumage with the soft run to the silver-gray mantle contrasts brilliantly with the yellow bill and the typical red tip at the bottom of this bill.
This gull was at eye level and by having the open sea as a blurred background in the photo, the bird stands out razor sharp against this background.
I took this photo in Denmark during a walk around Rosnaes Lighthouse. The beautiful surroundings and the open coastal landscape, because everywhere you look there is the sea, made this walk and photo trip worthwhile.
