A heron stands on the waterfront of the Cramwinckelplantsoen in Purmerend. The mirror image of the tree on the opposite side is somewhat wrinkled by the light ripples of the water. The animal was hunting, keeping an eye on me with one eye, and the other eye on the waterfront and its prey. This is how he moved along the bank. First, he was at the head of the pond where there is a grate and apparently a lot of fish. I do often see herons hunting in that place. Afterwards, he moved a bit more along the bank and I was able to get some better close-ups. Here he yawned briefly, but the beak was almost closed again when I took the picture.
