Euphrosine-Joséphine Beernaert (Ostend, 11 April 1831 - Ixelles, 7 July 1901) was a Belgian landscape painter of the nineteenth century.
Euphrosine Beernaert had a very personal, definable painting style, in which the following things in particular stand out: recurrent, nervously brushed reed sections that dynamically dominate the foreground of many paintings; her very plastic way of depicting trunks and foliage; the feeling of loneliness and desolation; few or no human figures; the poetic-melancholic and melancholic character of most of her paintings; her own colouring: before 1862 still fairly varied, later limited to grey-brown, grey-green: all muted colours.
