Heart of the Plateau | Storwartz Aerial Panorama, Røros, Norway

by Dylan Winter Visuals

Experience the vast tranquillity and rich history of Norway’s mining heritage with this impressive horizontal panorama. From a high bird’s-eye view, this artwork depicts the legendary Storwartz mining area, an integral part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site near the town of Røros. The composition is defined by a distinctive interplay of lines: two tarmac roads that converge from the lower corners and guide the viewer towards the historic mining buildings in a natural, embracing gesture.

This form of aerial photography captures Norway’s rugged, subarctic landscape and industrial history in a unique way. The warm colour palette of the copper-rich earth tones contrasts beautifully with the soft ‘glow’ of the sun and the glistening mountain lakes on the horizon. Careful ‘Fine Art’ post-processing has created a timeless image that brings an impressive sense of space and freedom to any interior. A masterful statement piece which, thanks to its panoramic format, visually enlarges any room and lends it character.

The powerful interplay of lines in the historic copper roads creates an immense sense of depth, drawing the viewer’s eye straight to the heart of the mine. Note also the authentic ore transport cables; a rare remnant of the industrial lifeline of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, set amidst the wild landscapes of Scandinavia.
