Experience the Hanseatic city from the water. With the local sea-going passenger ships, you can go on a discovery tour by boat. You can see the Hanseatic city of Wismar, whose old town has been declared a World Heritage Site, from the seaward side. You pass the overseas harbour and the timber terminal as well as the longest pier in Mecklenburg, in the district of Wismar Wendorf. You then head out into the Bay of Wismar towards the Baltic Sea island of Poel. The return journey then takes you past the listed fishing village of Hoben, the imposing shipyard hall with one of the largest dock halls in Europe and the old shipyard harbour, now the western harbour.
