The small lighthouse at the IJmuiden harbor mouth, near the Marina Seaport. The harbour of IJmuiden is not that big. On the left across the street you can still see the lighthouse of the Zuidpier, in the middle you can see the Pier of IJmuiden. From this harbour ferry services depart to Newcastle (GB).
IJmuiden is a relatively young city. Only after the North Sea Canal was dug and completed in 1876, IJmuiden came into being. It means mouth of the IJ (canal). I re-edited this photo from a historical perspective.
