The Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, seen here from Griffith Park. Originally an observatory/planetarium, this iconic building is 1 of Los Angeles' famous attractions. From here you have a great view of the L.A. skyline and the Hollywood Hills. This morning I was up early again and drove to this location again to do a hike and also to find a nice spot to capture this building on film. Now I have been here before and know the area well so I know from where I would have the best view. Now you can prepare a lot but you are still dependent on the weather gods every time and they presented me with a special spectacle this morning. A thick layer of clouds hung over the city like a blanket so that everything below it disappeared except the observatory. I had never seen it like this here before and the early rise was rewarded.
