In my garden, I have a small pond where the frogs are very happy. This beautiful green frog was in my pond among the duckweed. Although I am less happy with all that duckweed - duckweed means less light for my water plants - it does make a nice picture with the matching frog. The frog in a green world.
The frog's eyes are also so beautiful, like gold. Due to the limited depth of field, the focus in this photo is right on the eye, but its back and legs, for example, are already getting blurred, forming a nice whole with the green duckweed.
The green frog, Pelophylax, is a frog from the family of true frogs. There are 22 species; the different representatives of the genus have a huge range. The species are found in northern Africa and in large parts of Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Frogs first come into the world as tadpoles. They then eat mainly algae and dead plant and animal parts from the water. When tadpoles begin to develop legs and become frogs, they also eat small animals such as water fleas and mosquito larvae.
Frogs are real carnivores, they eat all kinds of animals that are not too big to swallow such as snails, other, smaller frogs, tadpoles, insects, crickets, spiders.... They are not very picky.
