Grape hyacinths (Muscari botryoides) is a plant of the asparagus family (Asparagaceae) or hyacinths family (Hyacinthaceae). The flowers are close together, and are almost spherical. The lower flowers are nodding, and the upper soft upright. The latter usually without pistil or stamen. The flowers are blue with a white border or are completely white.
The grape hyacinths are originally from the Mediterranean and Asia Minor. This plant is especially affected wild in the warmer parts of Central Europe and is now growing among orchards and vineyards. The plant grows in the Netherlands, especially in grasslands and along dunes, but is also found in the forest and in the pasture.
