About an hour drive north of Queenstown lies the small town of Glenorchy. Where Queenstown is bursting with tourists, it's nice and quiet here. The town is mainly the starting point for beautiful hikes in the mountainous hinterland. The disadvantage of all these walks is that they are difficult to reach and that the shortest walks take about 6 hours. Because of this most tourists do not visit this area. But also for the non hikers there is one place you really shouldn't miss. The Glenorchy lagoons. On the outskirts of the village is a swamp area with several lagoons and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. There is a boardwalk through the area and during your walk of about an hour and a half you can enjoy the beautiful views. Try to do the walk as early as possible because the water is still flat and you will get beautiful reflections.
