This landscape photo was taken on Svalbard. A lot of land on Spitsbergen is covered by glaciers. Unfortunately, it is very easy to see that these are decreasing in size. This photo was taken at the edge of the glacier. In the foreground is a large amount of weathering material carried by the glacier. It is a lot of loose boulders, stones and sand. This weathering material is called moraine.
The meltwater drains the small material into the sea, the coarse material remains. In this photo, the meltwater is clearly visible.
The blue ice contrasts nicely with the dark bare rocks. I also liked the contrast between the solid ice in the background and the water in the foreground.
