A flaming crown of autumn leaves encircles the head of a girl young girl. She bats her eyes and smiles lightly. It is cold outside. Her cheeks are red and she is wearing a thick cable jumper. The warm colours of her headdress contrast with the cold blue of the background.
I made this work in autumn and felt it had something virginal about it. The girl's pose is subdued, introspective, while still in touch with nature.
There is something mysterious about it. Who is the girl? What is she thinking about? The atmosphere of autumn is one of cosiness and warmth, of chocolate milk and walks in the park as the leaves fall from the trees. Of dancing in the piles of leaves and throwing them into the air. And of the last, warm rays of the sun.
The work is made with colored ink on paper, which gives a nice, bright result effect. Colored ink is transparent and runs beautifully, creating layers. The transparency is reminiscent of the light in autumn.
The work exudes peace and contemplation and could be seen as a modern Madonna. The layering of the watery colored ink adds an extra dimension to your interior.
My work distinguishes itself by strong colours and clear shapes. I work with ecoline, ink and pencil, but I also like to cut and paste.
I get my inspiration from nature and like to daydream. Animals and people sometimes seem to melt together in these reveries.
