About ‘Ghost pipefish @ Komodo, Indonesia’ by Travel Tips and Stories

The Ghost Pipefish is one of the most sought-after macro marine creatures by divers in Komodo National Park in Indonesia.
These fascinating creatures are closely related to the seahorse and the pipefish. This is what makes them so special and where you can find them in Komodo: Characteristics & Behaviour
Masters of camouflage: They mimic their surroundings perfectly. They look exactly like floating pieces of seagrass, algae or coral fronds.
Posture: They almost always float upside down (head down) near the seabed or coral reefs, allowing them to blend into the background.
Reproduction: Unlike seahorses, in the ghost pipefish the female carries the eggs in a brood pouch formed by her pelvic fins.
Species in Komodo: In the waters of Komodo, you will mainly encounter two species:
Harlequin Ghost Pipefish (Ornate Ghost Pipefish): The most spectacular variety. They are brightly coloured with intricate patterns and spiny protrusions. They often hide amongst the arms of feather stars (crinoids) or horn corals.
Robust Ghost Pipefish: This species is smoother and green or brown in colour. They look exactly like a stray tuft of seagrass or a dead leaf.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
