An NH90 helicopter of the German Army. The NH90 is a twin-engine, multi-purpose helicopter. The helicopter was developed in response to NATO's need for a military helicopter that can operate over both land and sea. The NH90 was developed, built and is supported by NHIndustries, a partnership (joint venture) between Leonardo (formerly Agusta Westland), Airbus Helicopters (formerly Eurocopter) and Fokker. The primary role of the TTH version is to transport 20 military personnel or more than 2,500 kg of cargo. The aircraft are also suitable for Search & Rescue. Other possible tasks include medical evacuations (MEDEVAC - medical evacuation, with up to twelve stretchers), special operations, electronic warfare, flying command post, parachuting, VIP transport and training.
