In the early morning, the polder near Drunen lay silent and white. Frost had covered the grass and soil with a fine layer of frost, and in the distance a row of trees stood tight against the horizon. The sky slowly coloured in soft shades of orange and pink - the beginning of a bright winter day.
Everything in this image is about tranquillity and openness. The lines of the landscape lead your gaze to the trees, and the sky provides warmth in an otherwise cold setting. No eye-catching elements, but it is precisely this simplicity that makes it powerful.
What touched me was the combination of cold and colour. You feel the winter, but the light makes the image almost inviting.
Where would you like to hang this winter morning - perhaps in a room that could use some air and light?
📍 Location info
Polder near Drunen - North Brabant
A wide and open area with long sightlines. In winter, on clear mornings, the hoar frost and soft light create atmospheric landscapes.
