About ‘Foxglove’ by Hanneke Luit

A row of tall white and pink flowering stems of Digitalis Purpurea. Foxglove is a biennial or perennial plant that is common in the wild in the Netherlands but is also regularly planted in gardens. It blooms cheerfully from May to September. there are cultivated varieties with other colours. The flowers are much visited by bumblebees, which have to crawl all the way into the flower to get to the honey, bringing pollen into their fur with which they can pollinate the next plant.
The plant is quite poisonous. Digoin can be extracted from the leaves, which can be used to treat cardiac arrhythmias.
Behind the flowers you can see rough grassland and a forest edge in the distance.
