Foxglove, scientifically known as Digitalis purpurea, is a striking biennial plant native to Europe. The plant is known for its beautiful, bell-shaped flowers that range from pink to purple hues and grow in a spike-shaped inflorescence. Foxglove can grow up to 1.5 metres tall and usually blooms in late spring to early summer. Because of its toxicity and striking flowers, foxglove is often associated with mystery and magic. In folk tales, it is said that fairies used the flowers as thimbles, hence the name.
