In the cracks of the concrete slabs grow these brave ferns, neatly four in a row. A very peaceful photo that nevertheless shows a lot. The amazing colour gradient on the beautifully weathered concrete slabs from the deep blue to the beautiful yellow-brown and then the fine green of the plants, the soft early sunlight completing the picture.
The photo was taken in the Waterloop forest near Marknesse.
I was caught by the ferns, which despite the limited space in the crevices between the plates still have a chance to grow. This work received an Honourable Mention at the photo competition "The Green Camera 1923".
