Fort Edegem is part of the defensive belt of Antwerp built by Alexis Brialmont between 1854 and 1859.
This fort is the only place in the province of Antwerp where civilians were executed by the German occupiers for espionage during WWI.
The fort has undergone a transformation from military domain to coworking space and bat sanctuary.
