Inflorescence and young leaves of a common bird cherry tree, Prunus padus in spring in a park near Magdeburg. The weeping cherry is native to the whole of Europe. Between April and June the long white flower clusters appear, which are rich in pollen and nectar. In late summer, globular drupes develop on the branches. They are red at first and later turn glossy black. The taste of the fruits is bittersweet to tart.
