A banana plant or banana tree is actually an herb, the world's largest herb (herbaceous). However, according to the horticultural definition, banana is counted among vegetables. There are about 2,000 varieties in the world. Bananas grow in tropical countries where temperatures do not fall below 10°C. Under normal conditions, it takes about seven months to harvest. Bananas grow in bunches of up to 50 kg on a banana plant. All the bananas in such a cluster ripen at the same time. The flower at the base of the bunch is also edible and has a slightly tart and slightly sweet taste. This flower is eaten raw in some countries in Asia. The banana gets its crooked shape because the flower cluster starts hanging downwards due to gravity, while the fruit keeps growing upwards (geotropy). Usually the flower hangs at the bottom of the cluster, but this one grew horizontally. So I did not rotate the photo and/or camera.
