At Lac Bay in Bonaire, you see a number of fishermen's cottages that have their own look. Here is one with a statue of Mary in a corner cupboard on the apple-green porch. Of course, she stands there for a reason but is supposed to give protection and courage to the fishermen who leave from here for their daily fishing.
Small offerings lie in the cupboard and a playfully painted vase with artificial flowers convey a unique atmosphere. The jacket hanging from the porch pole indicates that people sit here and use this fisherman's cottage every day. In the Caribbean islands, you see a lot of homegrown culture in unusual locations and this is 1 of them.
