Farm and stables with a draughtsman, Rembrandt van Rijn, 1643 - 1647
etching, h 130mm × b 208mm More object data
A man wearing a big hat is drawing a farmhouse. This type of house was common around Amsterdam. It is made of brick, a precious material at the time. It was probably built for the production of butter with the cellar and the 'upstairs room' as storage. So, sitting in the grass, you can imagine Rembrandt.
