Butterfly flower family, that's where the broad bean belongs! The flowers are pretty, but even prettier are the broad beans that follow. The pretty, fresh green pods and when you open them...you'll find the delicious, grey-green beans on a bed of felt. But very common this delicious vegetable, it seems, is very healthy. They are native to Africa and the Middle East, which you wouldn't expect. Broad beans have been grown for a very long time: as early as 6000 B.C. The seeds were quite small then and were first found in archaeological excavations near Nazareth in Israel. That makes you think. The broad bean deserves more than just being labelled healthy. It puts your imagination to work to give the broad bean, together with Tanacetum parthenium and some sprigs of flowering Alchemilla Mollis, a more creative background after all.
